VERNON (February 5, 2025) – Play begins Friday at the National Team Selection Event being held at Rosters Sports Club in Vernon, British Columiba. The tournament, which is being hosted by Vernon Racquetball Association runs February 7 and 8.
This is the second selection event of the 2024 / 2025 season for high performance athletes from across Canada who are competing for national and international team placement. Results from the event will be used to determine the teams representing Canada at the 2025 Chengdu World Games and the 2025 Pan American Championships.
Selection event matches will be live-streamed on Racquetball Canada’s Facebook Page and YouTube Channel beginning Friday afternoon. Racquetball Canada welcomes back former elite national team member Paul Shanks and former junior national team member Mckenzie Brayley to our livestream team for the season.

What:
- Winter National Team Selection Event
Who:
- 20 competitors from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Québec; including those playing at the elite level, as well as junior age players.
- Most of Canada’s national team and top ranked athletes will be competing, including the 2024 Men’s Doubles World Champions, Coby Iwaasa and Samuel Murray as well as Frédérique Lambert, Canada’s reigning Women’s Open National Champion in singles and doubles.
- British Columbia competitors include top ranked BC athlete David Serra of Kelowna and Anthony Schonberger of Surrey.
- The tournament is open to spectators free of charge
When:
- February 7 and 8, 2025
- Play begins at 11:00 am (Pacific Time) on Friday February 7. The open division finals will take place in the afternoon of February 8.
