Championships Start Friday in Calgary

WINNIPEG, OCTOBER 21, 2021 – Play begins on Friday at the Western Canadian Racquetball Championships being hosted by the Alberta Racquetball Association at Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association and Recreation Centre. The tournament runs October 22 to 24.

With the cancellation of the National Championships for the past two years, the racquetball community is ready to get back on the courts. The Western Canadian Championships are an opportunity to provide a return to sport in a way that ensures a safe and competitive opportunity. An Eastern Canadian Championships is in the works for early in 2022.

“The Alberta Racquetball Association is thrilled to be hosting one of Canada’s first major tournaments after a lengthy COVID hiatus,” said Mitch Brayley, President of the Alberta Racquetball Assoc. “It aligns with our mission to be actively involved with the sport at a national level. We’re extremely excited to enjoy some great racquetball action and see our community reconnect.”

“I’d like to wish everyone playing the Westerns a fun and successful tournament,” said Jen Saunders, the High Performance Director with Racquetball Canada. “I am so happy to see our active for life players make their return to tournament play along side some of our National Team members. We hope they enjoy this competitive opportunity being presented by Racquetball Canada in partnership with the Alberta Racquetball Association.”
